Shadow at Dierenbescherming Nederland

At Otten Pet Cages, we are proud of our cooperation with Dierenbescherming Nederland and the custom-made animal enclosures we have realized for them. A great example of this is the project we have carried out in Almelo. Here we have created specially designed shade areas for dogs that are both practical and animal-friendly.

Durable construction with galvanized steel

For this project, we chose a robust and durable construction of galvanized steel as the frame for the shade areas. Galvanized steel offers an excellent combination of strength and weather resistance, making it perfect for outdoor setups.

The steel frame forms the base of the animal enclosure and is specially designed to last for years, regardless of weather conditions. The construction is not only sturdy but also safe for the animals, with no sharp edges or protruding parts that could cause injuries.

Functional shade cloth with smart attachment

The frames are covered with high-quality shade cloth, also known as mesh. This material provides optimal protection from the bright sun, while at the same time allowing air to pass through, which is essential for a pleasant living environment for dogs.

A special feature of these animal enclosures is the method of attaching the shade cloth. We opted for a system with stakes, which allows the cloth to be easily removed when needed. This innovative aspect makes the design extra functional and user-friendly for Animal Welfare staff.

Practical seasonal use

The removability of the shade cloth was a conscious decision when designing these animal enclosures. During the summer months, the fabric provides much-needed shelter from the sun, which is essential for the dogs' well-being. During the winter period, when shade is less necessary and the canvas could potentially be damaged by snow or ice, it can be easily removed.

The removed canvas can be easily rolled up, making it compact for storage. This saves space while significantly extending the life of the material. In the spring, the shade cloth can be effortlessly reattached, ready for a new season.
