Functional rodent enclosures in Ridderkerk
For Dierenbescherming Nederland, Otten Pet Cages in Ridderkerk realized an extensive project aimed at the shelter of small rodents, rabbits and guinea pigs. The result is a series of durable and low-maintenance animal enclosures designed to be both practical and animal-friendly. The enclosures provide a safe environment that perfectly meets the needs of both the animals and the caretakers.
A major focus of this project was protection against mice and other pests. Therefore, mouse netting with a fine mesh structure of 10x10 mm was used in all enclosures. This prevents mice from accessing the animal enclosures or stored food through openings, contributing to a hygienic and safe living environment.
Custom cavi table and night shelters
A standout feature of this project is the specially designed cavi table. This is arranged so that the animals are easily visible while experiencing adequate shelter and comfort. Thanks to this arrangement, the care of guinea pigs becomes orderly and efficient, without compromising on animal welfare.
In addition, as many as 42 night pens have been installed, coupled with 10 spacious rabbit runs. These night pens are an essential part of the animal enclosure, as they offer the rabbits rest and protection from the weather. Each hutch is made of durable materials such as aluminum and HPL, ensuring long life and easy maintenance. The combination with outdoor runs allows the animals to move freely during the day while resting sheltered at night.
